Drama
Battle Abbey School has a dynamic and creative Drama department which has a strong history of success both through the curriculum and also in extra-curricular provision. Recently, although amidst a pandemic we had over 70 students from all year groups participating in our Christmas Crackerbox Showcase.
Drama students regularly participate in School Productions with recent successes being Guys and Dolls, Music Man, Daisy Pulls it off and Alice in Wonderland.
The departmental aims are to create an atmosphere where all feel comfortable being able to explore their creativity in whatever area of the performing arts and drama they are interested in. As well as all areas of performance we have a dedicated tech team to support the extra-curricular provision.
Although we have students that are interested in pursuing careers on the stage, we also work on many transferable skills within a varied and holistic curriculum such as the skills to present confidently and to tackle tasks on your feet in a proactive manner. The skills of knowing when to lead and when to facilitate are central to this all-rounded approach.
The department has historically strong results and students have gone on to varied careers with some moving on to areas of further training in the performing arts such as Central School of Speech and Drama and RADA.
